A world without procrastination

Hello, I’m Vivienne Joy and today I want you to have a little sneak peek into the future if you were to do the inner work – the mindset work – to overcome the procrastination that we talk about all the time. I wonder what a life without procrastination would be like? Have you ever thought “I wish I could stop this? If only I could get out of my own way. If only I could do X Y Z?”

What would it really be like? Grab your pad and pen and answer the following:

If I could stop procrastinating, it would be…

When I don’t procrastinate, I achieve… 

You can keep writing it you can have several things under the when I don’t procrastinate, I achieve…! Except I want you to take a moment, take some deep breaths, close your eyes, and I want you to imagine procrastination. Just imagine it as a word, a feeling, a visual. You might be seeing a picture of it, or see yourself or someone else. I want you to bring it towards you… 

Procrastination…

Notice how it shows up for you now it’s a word? Notice what that word is. If it’s a colour, a feeling, a shape, a texture, a sound, a smell, a taste. What is procrastination within you? I want you to notice whereabouts it is. Is it close to you or as far away as the other side? Is it at the top? Is it inside? Is it in your throat? Is it in your stomach? Where is it? Strange question. Just go with it, because whatever the answer, I want you to now imagine that you can move it. If it’s just in the mind, can you move it? If it’s a physical thing, can you move it? If it’s an emotion, can you switch it? If it’s a sound, can you turn it up? Now change it. If it’s a smell? Can you move it? Can you wash it away? Does it have a taste? Can you drink something and get rid of it in your mind? Because if you can, and we can do some other stuff with it, you can move it – can you move it outside of you? Can you move it far away? Can you put it down somewhere and leave it there? Get on with your day and then go look it up. 

You might be thinking that’s where I begin, I was able to do that. If so great, well done. If not do it, try it. Try it some more. Take some practice if you’re not used to doing this kind of NLP based work. And if you can move it and leave it somewhere, you might decide to leave it there forever. Or you might decide to change it, shrink it, change the colour of it, change the smell or texture, change the sound, change the colour, change the feeling, change the word. Because you’ll be amazed when you change these things, what changes inside of you. Have a little go!
